Mother Loss & Motherhood 6-Week Online Support Group
SUPPORT FOR YOU, SUSTAINABILITY FOR US.
Our small charity is entirely run by unpaid volunteers. Every penny from this £240 course ensures our lights stay on so we can continue supporting all mothers. This is not just a course; it's a contribution to keeping this safe community alive. Thank you for your support. Having said that, we never want cost to be a barrier to support, and we offer 1 funded place per course; to apply in complete confidence, please email themotherlessmothersuk@gmail.com with the subject line 'Funded Place Inquiry'.
Course Description: When you become a mother, something shifts. Suddenly the absence of your own mother takes up new space. You find yourself grieving at the school gate, in the middle of the night feed, in moments that were supposed to feel full. Nobody told you that motherhood could make the loss louder.
Mother Loss & Motherhood is a 6-week virtual group for women navigating grief in the context of motherhood. Small, closed, and carefully held – it is a space to name what you're carrying without being rushed toward resolution. We move through six themes together: naming the loss, the mother you needed, guilt and mixed emotions, cumulative grief, becoming the mother, and integration. Each session combines psychoeducation with open, facilitated discussion and a gentle weekly reflection invitation.
Although these sessions are led by Erica, a licensed therapist, this course is not group therapy. It is a structured, facilitated support group held with clinical care and warmth, drawing on grief psychology, attachment theory, and the lived reality of what you are carrying.
6 weeks. No more than 10 women. One honest (virtual) room.
This group is for you if:
You are a mother or are pregnant with your first child.
Your own mother is absent — through death or cognitive or mental health reasons such as Alzheimer’s, dementia or other conditions.
Becoming a mother has brought your grief closer to the surface.
You are stable enough to be in community (not in acute crisis or requiring clinical support).
You are ready to explore, reflect, and be witnessed — not just advised.
This group is not a substitute for therapy or clinical mental health treatment. If you are currently in crisis or need one-on-one clinical support, we will help you find the right resource.
When: April 24th, May 1st, May 8th, May 15th, May 22nd, May 29th
Time: 4:00-5:00 pm GMT
*Please note that the first session on April 24th is 75 minutes; we need a minimum of 4 participants to run this group.
A little note on refunds: Because we’re a small charity run by volunteers, we don’t have a fancy billing department! Once you pay, those funds go straight to work helping us support others. For that reason, we can't offer cash refunds. However, we’re all mums—we know life goes sideways. If you can't make it, you can use your payment as a credit for any future event, or you can even "gift" your spot to another mother in the community who needs it. We’re all in this together.
