Erica created, developed and runs all of our 6-week online support groups.
Erica Cummings, LPC, NBC-HWC, is a licensed professional counsellor, board-certified health and wellness coach, and maternal mental health specialist with a deep personal and professional commitment to supporting mothers through loss and identity transformation.
Erica currently practises at Matrescence Therapy, where she specialises in the emotional complexity of becoming and being a mother. Erica has spent years exploring how to build sustainable support systems for parents, driven in part by a gap she sees clearly: when a mother has no maternal figure to lean on, that absence leaves real and lasting holes that are rarely acknowledged.
Her work with motherless mothers is rooted in both clinical training and lived experience. Erica has 2 children and lost her own mother to breast cancer at 18, and she knows firsthand how that loss doesn't stay still, how it shifts and resurfaces through new seasons of life, and how acutely it can surface when you become a mother yourself.
Through this group, Erica brings together evidence-informed approaches including attachment theory, grief psychology, and the framework of matrescence to hold space for grief that rarely gets named out loud. She is particularly passionate about helping mothers honour the complexity of what they carry, without rushing toward resolution.
She offers individual support for mothers navigating these transitions through her private practice.
