Hello, I’m Claire….

I am an integrative psychotherapist, which means that I tailor my approach to therapy to suit you. My background is in person-centred therapy, and I have previously provided counselling in a women’s charity, in schools, and for a private company, as well as in my own private practice. I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from The University of Salford, and my thesis explored the loss of a parent during adolescence and the impact that this has on one’s identity and sense of self in adulthood. This is a topic I am passionate about, having lost my own mum at age 17.

I love being with people and building a trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients, which acts as the bed rock for the work we do together.

I work with people who are tired of wondering how they would have ‘turned out’ if they’d not suffered this loss when younger. Often my clients want the invisible struggle that they have lived to be witnessed and understood. I am aware of the deep feelings of injustice that can strike when you see peers being supported by a parent that you no longer have.

I am a mother myself and am able to utilise that part of myself to deepen my understanding of my clients who are mothers too.

My approach is trauma-informed, and I will work to ensure that you feel safe, comfortable and regulated and can navigate back to this state before giving you the opportunity to explore your experiences.

I work in a way that allows you to set the pace. I appreciate that coming to therapy can feel daunting, and I will do everything I can to help you feel at ease. As we work together, we will create a trusting relationship where you feel safe to explore feelings, experiences and behaviours.

I am a registered member of the BACP, and I adhere to their ethical framework. I also have an enhanced DBS certificate and regularly undertake safeguarding training updates.
